About this event

Dive into the fascinating world of miniatures! From August 18 to August 30, 2026, Train World and Media & Rail (the creators behind Modelspoormagazine / Train Miniature) invite you to a spectacular model railway journey right in the heart of the museum. For the last two weeks of August, the industrial halls of Schaerbeek Station will play host to a collection of highly detailed scale layouts, bringing the magic of tiny tracks to life alongside Train World's full-sized historic locomotives.

Highlights of the Exhibition:
Masterfully Crafted Layouts: Discover meticulously designed, hyper-realistic scale models from expert modeling clubs and individual artists. Witness miniature worlds featuring detailed towns, bustling industrial zones, and scenic landscapes.
Belgian Railway History in Miniature: Marvel at historic, faithful scale recreations of iconic Belgian railway sites, including:
- Station Hasselt (anno 2002) by Ivo Schraepen.
- Station Oostende (anno 2005) by MSKK, showcasing an impressive 11-track terminus layout right before its modern renovation.
- Halte Royale d'Ardenne by Rudy Altenhoven.
- Highly detailed industrial dioramas like Carbel (a fictional limestone quarry inspired by the Meuse valley) and Carolo Metal.
A Complete Museum Experience: Your entry ticket includes full access to both the temporary model train exhibition and Train World's permanent collection, where you can stand face-to-face with the Pays de Waes (the oldest preserved steam locomotive in continental Europe) and climb into authentic conductor cabs.
