Many innovations that are now taken for granted in the ICE were once introduced with InterCity and set standards for train travel in Germany.
In autumn 2026, a significant chapter in railway history will come to an end. Together, we would like to look back on 55 years of InterCity, honor special moments, and at the same time say goodbye to the Intercity 1, series 101, and series 218 in long-distance service. For this purpose, the Intercity 1 will embark on a farewell tour starting from September 25, 2026.
