With the introduction of the new regional trains with fixed composition (EMU), some E464 locomotives were used in intercity long-distance services, both in daytime and night train operations, where their speed of 160 km/h is still sufficient to ensure a good service.

To better match the carriages they are now coupled with, these locomotives received the new intercity livery with a white background, gray chassis, roof, and fronts in gray, a red stripe, and a wide gray stripe on the sides that fades at the ends.
