Novelty 2025: The six-axle electric locomotives of the E 669.1
series have proven themselves in heavy goods transport for more
than half a century. They were developed from the two prototypes of
the E 660.0 class with the aim of avoiding double-traction goods
trains. Delivered by Škoda to the Czechoslovak State Railway (ČSD)
in the early 1960s, the 150 units built were used in the DC network
in the north and east of the former Czechoslovakia. With the
dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the entire class, now
designated 181, was transferred to the new Czech Railways (ČD).
Five units are still in operation today as push-pull locomotives
under the aegis of ČD Cargo. New design | Digitally switchable cab
