Novelty 2026: The PIKO model of the T 679.2 locomotive is a
prototype-accurate H0 model of this locomotive type. Typical
features include the separately mounted handrails in front of the
cabs and the “clean” roof. Although the T 679.2 is shorter than
Class 132, it appears larger and more powerful in the model thanks
to its lowered front skirts. Prototype-oriented model railway
enthusiasts will also appreciate the robust bogie detailing, which
withstands the rigors of regular model railway operation. The
motor, equipped with two flywheels, combined with the heavy
die-cast frame and the elegant cardan shaft drive on four axles
(two wheels with traction tires arranged diagonally), provides
excellent running characteristics and high pulling power. As a
model of the PIKO Expert line, the locomotive features close
coupling mechanisms and a PluX16/22 digital interface. It is
prepared for the addition of sound.
