Novelty 2026: With the Class 1067, true rarities were in service at
the ÖBB between 1961 and 1994. Only one prototype and four
additional units of these electric locomotives were ever built.
They were equipped with a technical peculiarity: an
electro-hydraulic drive. Built by the Jenbacher Werke with a
central cab, the locomotives were used in shunting service and
could be seen in either fir green or blood-orange livery. The drive
concept, which was strongly based on diesel locomotives, proved
prone to defects and damage, so production was not continued. The
Class 1067.03, the last active unit, was retired on October 1,
1994. Today, two of the locomotives can still be admired in the
Knittelfeld and Ampflwang railway museums. Fine-meshed scissor
