Electric locomotive Rh 1144 of the ÖBB, Era VI, with sound
With the newly designed PIKO 1044/1144, there will be authentic
models of the high order numbers of this series in 1:87 for the
first time. The characteristic locomotive face of the former ÖBB
flagship has been excellently captured in the model implementation,
as has the distinctive side profile of the vehicles, which posed
challenges for the mold construction with its pronounced grooves
and typical "portholes." The resulting impression of ideal optical
effect continues in the bogies of the locomotive. Last but not
least, the new 1044 technically impresses: A five-pole PIKO motor,
on whose shaft two finely balanced flywheels are mounted, ensures
smooth propulsion. The now obligatory light change has been
implemented in contemporary LED technology, just like the
attractive driver's cab illumination. However, it is not a given
that the PIKO model also features the switchable lighting of the
driver's cab in digital operation.
