Novelty 2025: With the Vectron Dual Mode, Siemens Mobility
presented a dual-power locomotive in 2019 that has both a diesel
engine and high-voltage equipment for drawing power from the
overhead line. This means that the locomotives are not dependent on
the contact wire and can be used more flexibly and
resource-efficiently across the entire range of applications.
Siemens offers the locomotives in two variants: the Vectron Dual
Mode, known in Germany as BR 248, and the Vectron Dual Mode light,
known as BR 249. Shape variant | Digital switching of drivers cab
lighting and engine room lighting by retrofitting a digital decoder
| Drivers desk lighting | A metal scissor pantograph | Fine fan
grilles | Freely rotating fan wheel on the roof | Detailed bogies |
View into the engine room | Freestanding mounted windscreen wipers
and handrails The final design is still to be announced.
