Novelty 2026: In 2019, Siemens Mobility introduced the Vectron Dual
Mode, a dual-power locomotive equipped with both a diesel engine
and a high-voltage system for drawing power from overhead lines.
This allows the locomotives to operate independently of the
catenary, offering greater flexibility and more resource-efficient
operation across the full range of applications. Siemens offers the
locomotives in two variants: the Vectron Dual Mode, designated as
BR 248 in Germany, and the Vectron Dual Mode Light, designated as
BR 249. Digitally switchable cab and engine room lighting via
