Model: The locomotive has an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive
sound functions. It also features a controlled, high-performance
motor with a centrally mounted flywheel. Four axles are powered
through cardan shafts. It has traction tires. The triple headlights
and dual red marker lights change ends with the direction of
travel; they operate conventionally and are digitally controllable.
The long-distance headlights and cab lighting can be controlled
separately in digital operation. The headlights at ends 1 and 2 can
be turned off separately in digital operation. The locomotive has
the “double A” light function. Maintenance-free warm white and red
LEDs are used for the lighting. A 2-pole coupling fitted into the
NEM pocket at locomotive end 2 serves as an electrical connection
to car 1 from the ICE express train passenger car set, item 42933.
A normal close coupler head is fitted into the NEM pocket at
locomotive end 1. Length over buffers is 21.9 cm / 8-5/8".
This locomotive can only be fully utilized in conjunction with the
ICE express train passenger car set, item 42930, due to the 2-pole
current-conducting coupler between the locomotive and car. For
technical reasons, this locomotive is not designed for use with
different passenger or freight cars. To use the pickup shoe
changeover feature between the class 101 and the two ICE express
train passenger car sets, please refer to the instructions.
Only the two ICE express train passenger car sets, items 42933 and
42934, are provided to form a prototypical 8-piece train unit for
this class 101 electric locomotive.
