Tender locomotive Class 94 (formerly Prussian T16.1) of the DB, Era
III.
Prototype condition around 1958.
The T16.1 is the first steam locomotive from ESU.
The finely detailed model is mostly made of metal and features a
variety of separately applied parts. It goes without saying that
the prototype-specific differences are taken into account. A
highlight are the wheels designed with thin spokes.
The model is depicted with largely worn wheel tires, allowing the
wheel stars to have prototype-appropriate dimensions. This leaves
enough space for the flange to be designed in such a way that safe
operation on two- and three-rail tracks is possible. To minimize
compromises in the chassis, we guarantee operation only on radii
from 420 mm. Since the locomotives were used in local freight and
shunting services, they are equipped with a shunting coupling in
the standard pocket on both sides.
- Newly designed smoke generator
- Crosshead, slide bar, and piston rod made of metal
Matching hook couplings with non-magnetic hooks are included with
the locomotive. Of course, the model emits smoke from the chimney,
controlled by axle sensors and synchronized with the locomotive
sound. This makes operating the classic Prussian locomotive a
visual and acoustic pleasure.
We have also paid close attention to the prototype when designing
the sounds. For example, when descending a slope, the acoustic can
be switched to counter-pressure brake using a function key,
simulating the Riggenbach counter-pressure brake.
The acoustics of the various air and feed pumps were also
different. Shunting is done prototypically under the dual
illumination of the right lower lantern. In the Prussian variant,
the third marker light can be activated to show the marker signal
Zg 7 (counter-train signal).
For the first time in large series, the lanterns are designed to be
free-standing, as per the prototype. When coal is acoustically
shoveled into the firebox, the firebox lighting also glows.
