Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG), Era II.
A part of the pure 3rd class cars procured by the DRG starting in
1936 was delivered without interior fittings from around 1940 and
was equipped for use as ambulance cars with partition walls, beds,
and sanitary areas. In train composition, a distinction was made
between ambulance and light patient trains, which were available in
standard compositions and, marked with the letter "b," as shorter
sets. As external identifiers, the ambulance cars had a gray paint
scheme with large red crosses on the car body and roof.
