Novelty 2025: The electric locomotives of the 1000 series of the
Dutch State Railways are based on the SBB Ae 4/6. In contrast to
the Swiss locomotives, they were not designed for alternating
current, but for the Dutch direct current network. Originally
intended for express train services between the major Dutch cities,
they were used almost exclusively for goods train services between
1948 and 1982. Of the ten locomotives built, the 1010 is the only
one to have survived and can be viewed in the railway museum in
