The PIKO Expert model of the class 1100 of the Dutch State Railways NS impresses with a successful mold construction featuring coherent roof curves and many attached parts, such as fine insulators and pantographs, free-standing grab irons, and stairs. The model includes matching lamp molds, sharply engraved bogie covers with realistic spring assembly reproductions, and faithful reproductions of the buffer planks. The lighting is provided by LEDs. The cab and engine room lights, as well as the front and rear lights that operate depending on the direction of travel, can be controlled digitally with a PluX22 decoder. The heavy die-cast zinc frame and the motor with two large, precisely balanced flywheels provide excellent driving characteristics and high tractive forces. The model features a tidy circuit board with PluX22 interface and is prepared for an uncomplicated retrofit with a sound decoder and large speaker.
