Novelty 2025: In the 1930s, light railcars with Brossel engines
were built in Belgium, including unit 553.12, which initially
operated on the Bruges–Maldegem line and later, as unit 4903, was
used in the Ardennes and at the port of Antwerp. It was officially
retired in 2000 but remained popular with railway enthusiasts
thanks to charter services and its use on the Vennbahn. Eventually,
it returned to the Maldegem–Eeklo line in its original livery.
