Novelty 2025: The Luhansk locomotive factory developed a six-axle
diesel-electric locomotive based on the SZD TE10 series built from
1958 for use in front of heavy goods trains. The first two
prototypes, the M62 01 and M62 02, were delivered to the SZD in
1964. Between 1966 and 1975, the Deutsche Reichsbahn purchased a
total of 378 locomotives of this series. A particularly striking
feature of the first delivery series of the M62 was the missing
silencer, which earned the locomotive the nickname ‘Taiga drum’ in
the GDR due to the exhaust noise. Digital switching of drivers cab
