Novelty 2025: At the end of the 1980s, PKP needed a new locomotive
series that could cope with the demands of continuous transport at
160 km/h for fast passenger services between Warsaw and Krakow. The
EP05 series locomotives converted from the EU05 from 1973 onwards
were limited in number and were getting on in years. Pafawag
therefore designed a new locomotive type 104E in Wroclaw. The
machines fulfilled the expectations placed in them to such an
extent that the PKP acquired a further 45 machines by 1997. The
EP09 was used throughout the country and almost completely replaced
the EP05. Shape variant | Digital switching of drivers cab lighting
