The Gran Confort cars of the FS from the orders of 1985 and 1988, which are immediately recognizable from the previous ones due to the reinforcing ribs on the roof, were almost evenly divided between compartment and open-plan types, with the same seating capacity (48 seats, all 1st class), but with different interior layouts.

Among the salon cars, since the start of construction, two units have been equipped for the transport of persons with reduced mobility, having a low number of seats as more space is needed for wheelchairs.
