After World War II, many Italian freight cars remained in Austria, including the prototype of this Rivarossi model. The wagon was used by the ÖMV until the late sixties. The "Österreichische Mineralölverwaltung Aktiengesellschaft" (ÖMV) was established on July 3, 1956, from the "Sowjetische Mineralölverwaltung" (SMV), which had been controlled by the Soviet occupying power until 1955.
The Rivarossi model features finely profiled and dark nickel-plated wheels, close coupling mechanisms, coupler mounts according to NEM 362, as well as many detailing parts, some made of sturdy metal.
