Novelty 2020 / 2021: With the newly constructed PIKO 1044/1144, authentic models of the high order numbers of this class will be available in 1:87 for the first time. The characterful locomotive face of the former ÖBB parade horse was excellently captured in the model realization, as was the distinctive side section of the vehicles, which with the pronounced corrugations and the typical "portholes" certainly posed challenges to the mold making. The resulting impression of ideal visual impact is continued in the locomotive´s bogies. Last but not least, the new 1044 is technically convincing: A five-pole PIKO motor with two finely balanced flywheel masses on the shaft ensures smooth propulsion. Model railroaders who prefer digital operation benefit from the modern PluX22 interface - it allows the installation of a digital decoder with a few simple steps. The light change, which is obligatory today, has been implemented in contemporary LED technology. Not a matter of course, however, is the lighting of the driver´s cab and driver´s desk, which is also available on the PIKO model and can be switched in digital operation.
