The refurbishment of the coaches involved the installation of
Minden-Deutz bogies instead of the previous Pennsylvania bogies,
which had been adapted to the Cuban track profile. Additionally,
the striking Regionales corporate livery, featuring orange stripes
on a white background, was applied. Given the additional cost of
changing the American couplers to conventional ones, an ingenious
solution was devised: two service coaches, known as "Mansos,"
equipped with mixed couplers, allowing for a towable and stable
consist. These service coaches were manufactured using surplus 5000
series coaches, equipping them solely with Minden bogies and
updating their external decoration. Despite their good performance
in terms of rolling stock, their outdated interior fittings
excluded them from passenger service, leading to their adaptation
for other purposes. Electrotren recently produced the first of
these coaches in its version with gangway bellows, under the
reference E5096. We now offer the opportunity to complete your
consists by incorporating the remaining "Manso" coach, with
registration S-1033, equipped with intercommunication bellows. An
attractive option for representing this unique coupling feature in
scale is the use of Hornby’s R7398 magnetic couplers, which
faithfully replicate the American model.
