1978

LDH125 diesel locomotives for broad gauge railways used by the Romanian State Railways (CFR) mainly in the eastern part of Romania.

The first 4x units and the only new locomotives delivered from the factory with broad gauge bogies for 1520 mm tracks enter service in 1978 (units 84-0574 - 0577). Additional locomotives from Class 80 and Class 81 are converted with broad gauge bogies for 1520 mm tracks at a later stage. Some of the converted locomotives are registered as Class 84, other locomotives keep their initial class even after conversion.

NB: All 633x LDH125 diesel locomotives delivered to the Romanian State Railways (CFR) are initially registered as 040-DHC-001 - 663 before being divided in three classes:
- Class 80 for standard gauge and equipped with a steam generator for passenger trains heating;
- Class 81 for standard gauge and without a steam generator;
- Class 84 detailed here.
