1972

Over 40x diesel locomotives type LDH 125 are imported from Romania for industrial use between 1972 and 1983.

These locomotives are characterised by their powerful diesel engines and hydrodynamic transmission systems, which were particularly suited for the harsh environments of industrial operations due to their dust-proof and robust construction. This made them ideal for working in the dusty conditions typical of coal and ore mines, as well as in cement and power plants where fine particulates and tough operating conditions are common.

In terms of design, the LDH 125 locomotives are noted for their distinctive blue and white liveries and extended hoods that housed their mechanical systems.

Throughout their service life in Czechoslovakia, they were a common sight on many industrial sidings, playing a crucial role in the logistics of heavy industries. The locomotives were particularly prevalent in areas like North Bohemia and the industrial regions of Moravia, where their capabilities were put to full use in the transportation of raw materials and finished goods.

Despite their robustness and utility, the 748.5 series faced challenges related to the availability of spare parts and the specialized nature of their maintenance. The end of their service life was often due not to mechanical failure but to logistical and economic factors, including the high cost of repairs and the difficulty of obtaining specialized components after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.

39x units are numbered sequentially from LDH125-001 - 039. Some units are locally classified as T435, T477 / DH477 and T478.
