From 1985 and 1990, there are 88x diesel locomotives from this series delivered by Electroputere Craiova (Romania), registered ND3 (the 'N' stands for diesel locomotive, 'D' stands for electric transmission and '3' stands for the third imported locomotive).

These locomotives are vey similar to ND2 diesel locomotives, with a modified body, improved bogie design and a different gear ratio adapted for a maximum speed of 100 km/h. They are mainly used for shunting and secondary operations.
