1920

After World War I, Deutsche Reichsbahn takes over 405x T 14 type steam locomotives from the Prussian State Railway and the General Directorate of the Imperial Railways in Alsace-Lorraine. They are registered as Class 93 001 - 405.

Unit 93 406 is also taken over from the Prussian State Railway where it was registered as Essen 8511 but this unit is actually of type T 14.1 built by Union Giesserei in 1919 (factory number 2491).

1925

Units 93 386 - 388 receive new registration numbers 93 1741 - 1743.

1927

2x units are acquired from Farge-Vegesacker Railway in 1927. These units are registered as 93 407 and 408.

1934

In 1934 and 1935, units 93 007, 010, 040 & 107 are sold to the Mecklenburg Friedrich Wilhelm Railway Company where they are registered as T 14 35 - 38.

After the Mecklenburg Friedrich Wilhelm Railway Company is incorporated into Deutsche Reichsbahn on January 1st, 1941, these units retrieve their initial owner and registration numbers.
 

1935

9x additional units are acquired from Saarbrücken Railway Directorate. These receive registration 93 409 - 417.

World War II

During World War II, further units are incorporated from neighbouring countries like the 26x units taken from the Belgium National Railway Company where they were registered as Type 97 and registered by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as 93 427 - 447 & 451 - 455.

The other units from the 93 418 - 459 range are taken over from France and Poland.

After the war:
- all 26x units taken from the Belgium National Railway Company are returned and are registered in the Type 97.001 - 056 series;
- 87x units will be transferred to the Polish National Railways where they are registered as TKt 1;
- 3x units (93.058, 324 & 405) remain in Austria where they are registered as Class 693 by the Austrian Federal Railways.

The remaining units in Germany are split between Deutsche Bundesbahn and the new Deutsche Reichsbahn.

1970

July 1

After the Deutsche Reichsbahn changed the registration plan to computerised numbers (EDV-Umzeichnung), the last remaining 33x units receive new registration numbers as they are classified as Class 93.8.
