In 2017, Green Cargo made a pivotal decision to enhance its fleet by ordering two locomotives from the Softronic Transmontana series after successful testing in Sweden. This marked a significant step as it was the first time Green Cargo had six-axle locomotives since 2012-2014. Softronic, established in 1999, transitioned from modernizing older locomotives to producing its own, with the Transmontana model emerging in 2010.

The newly designated Mb locomotives, identified with construction designations LEMA 032 and 033, were part of a broader strategy to bolster freight capabilities. Following the initial order, Green Cargo's commitment grew, leading to an order for six additional locomotives in 2018 and a framework contract for a total of 100 units in 2020.

These locomotives, boasting a remarkable output of 6000 kW, can efficiently transport heavy freight trains of up to 3000 tons. Their design allows for operation on various voltage systems and incorporates advanced braking technology for energy efficiency. The introduction of ETCS in the later deliveries further enhances their operational versatility, positioning Green Cargo to meet increasing demand in the rail freight market.
