These units, with a body similar to the Le.601, were equipped with 70 second-class seats arranged in a 2+2 configuration and one compartment for catering services.

The supply was divided into two sub-series: the Le.700.001-006, equipped with bogies with block brakes and a maximum speed of 180 km/h, and the Le.700.007-010, equipped with bogies with disc brakes and a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

As with the Le.780, the first sub-series units were not equipped with air conditioning, which was instead installed on the second sub-series units.
