80's

In the late 1980's there was a growing demand for large capacity tank wagons in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The Deutsche Reichsbahn commissioned Waggonbau Niesky to manufacture the wagons with the principal dimensions of 16.36 m between the buffers, a load volume of 85 m3, a dead weight of 25.5 t and capable of handling a top speed of 120 km/h. A total of 343 wagons were made. The wagons carried dangerous liquids, such as kerosene, petrol, methanol, diesel oil, etc.

The new wagons didn't spend a long time at DR due to the German reunification. They were taken over by four private companies: NACCO (33 wagons), VTG (33 wagons), ERMEWA (34 wagons) and KVG (243 wagons). All of them ran under DB.
