The BB 16100 is a small class of French electric locomotives converted from the BB 16000 series to work in push-pull commuter and regional services under 25 kV 50 Hz AC electrification. These locomotives operated mainly around Paris and northern France from the early 1990s until 2010.

To meet growing suburban commuter demand in the late 1980s and early 1990s, especially for reversible trains with ten-car double-deck V2N sets, the SNCF chose to modify existing BB 16000 locomotives rather than build new ones. Between 1991 and 1993, 15 BB 16000 units were equipped with multiplex push-pull control systems and other upgrades, creating the BB 16100 class.

Design & features:
• Push-pull (reversible) operation: Adapted with control systems and safety equipment to lead and control double-decker V2N trains in both directions.
• Cab upgrades: New driver desks based on BB 26000 designs, reinforced and sound-insulated cabs, and improved suspension for stability under push-pull conditions.
• Distinctive livery: Often carried a Corail-style gray and orange paint scheme, matching the suburban trainsets they hauled.

BB 16100 were primarily assigned to TER services on routes radiating from Paris-Nord and Paris-Saint-Lazare, including to Rouen, Amiens, Saint-Quentin and surrounding regional destinations.

BB 16100 were gradually retired between 2007 and 2010.
