During the rebuilding, the original interiors were replaced by new open-plan 2nd class interiors, together with upgraded electrical and air-conditioning systems, power sockets and electronic destination displays. The rebuilt coaches were authorised for speeds of up to 200 km/h and renumbered in the 61 83 29-90 series.
The 61 83 29-90 000 - 794 range theoretically covers 795 numbers; however, the available documentation does not allow us to confirm that every number within this range was actually assigned or that all vehicles originally planned under Progetto IC 901 were ultimately rebuilt.
