1945

At the end of the war:
- German Federal Railways (DB) took over around 700 units after the end of the war but all were decommissioned by October 1962;
- over 2000 units are transferred to Soviet Union (USSR);
- 1207 units remain in Poland where they are registered as Ty2 by the Polish National Railways (PKP);
- 185 units remain in Czechoslovakia where they are registered as Class 555.0 by the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD);
- 74 units remain in Norway where they are registered as Class 63a by the Norwegian State Railways (NSB);
- 53 units remain in Turkey where they are registered as Class 56.5 by the Turkish State Railways (TCDD);
- 42 units (some of which were only built after the war at Graffenstaden by the Alsatian Mechanical Engineering Company Graffenstaden - EMBG) are taken over by the French National Railway Company (SNCF) and registered as Class 150 Y;
- the remaining units in Belgium were registered by the Belgium National Railway Company (SNCB NMBS) as Class 26 (100x units) and as Class 27 for the locomotives with condenser tenders (3x units).

early 1950's

German Reich Railways (DR) 25x Class 52 units were converted to coal dust (due to the lack of hard coal after the war) and were registered as Class 52.90.

1953

In 1953, there were around 300 units in Austria that were transferred to Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and registered as Class 52 while the units built on a bar frame were registered as Class 152.

1960

German Reich Railways (DR) 200x units are rebuilt and receive new registration Class 52.80 between 1960-1967.
