Saxonia Modellbau
The brand is best known for its aggressive expansion into the TT scale market, where it has been praised for producing high-fidelity steam locomotives that rival H0 standards. A standout example is their recreation of the BR 58.30, a "Reko" (reconstructed) freight steam locomotive that serves as a flagship model for the brand. Saxonia distinguishes itself by offering these locomotives in various technical configurations, including "rolling models" (non-motorized dummy units) for use as heating locomotives or depot displays—a niche feature that caters specifically to diorama builders and realistic depot operators. Their rolling stock catalog is equally specialized, featuring the "Altenberg" passenger coaches and detailed chemical tank wagons (such as the "Buna" series) that are essential for modeling the industrial landscape of East Germany.
