About

B-models

B-Models was established as the sister brand and international arm of the renowned Belgian model railway specialist Van Biervliet, based in Ingelmunster. While the parent brand Van Biervliet typically focuses on extremely specialized, often limited-edition boutique masterpieces, B-Models was created to provide a broader range of high-quality, mass-produced European prototypes. This strategic expansion allowed the family-run enterprise to move beyond its retail roots and become a dominant force in the H0 (1:87) scale market, catering specifically to those who demand museum-quality detail in locomotives and rolling stock that define the cross-border rail networks of Europe.

The brand has become internationally synonymous with the faithful recreation of Belgian National Railway (SNCB/NMBS) history, particularly the iconic diesel and electric units of the mid-to-late 20th century. B-Models is celebrated for its definitive versions of the heavy Class 55 and Class 51 diesel locomotives, as well as the beloved "Classic" electric railcars like the AM 54 and AM 56. These models are engineered with a focus on mechanical robustness, often utilizing heavy die-cast metal chassis for superior traction, which is then paired with high-fidelity plastic bodies featuring separately applied details such as metal handrails, wipers, and prototypical roof equipment.

Beyond its focus on Belgian traction, B-Models has carved out a significant niche as a European leader in modern freight transport modeling. The brand’s catalog features a vast array of contemporary rolling stock, including meticulously detailed grain hoppers, container wagons, and the modular Innofreight systems that are staples of modern logistics. By prioritizing technical versatility, B-Models ensures its products are fully compatible with both 2-rail DC and 3-rail AC (Märklin) systems, frequently incorporating advanced digital features like factory-fitted ESU sound decoders and independent lighting controls. Today, B-Models remains a vital pillar of the Belgian modeling community, recognized for its ability to combine localized passion with the industrial precision required for the global stage.
