About

Fulgurex

Fulgurex was founded in 1947 in Lausanne, Switzerland, by Count Antonio Giansanti Coluzzi, a passionate collector whose shop name—derived from the Latin for "King of the Lightning Flash"—initially served as a specialized hub for high-end imports. In 1962, the brand evolved from a retailer into a boutique manufacturer, launching its first H0 scale brass model, the French 141 R steam locomotive, in collaboration with the Japanese firm Tenshodo. This transition established a standard for "fine scale" modeling that prioritized handcrafted brass construction and artistic precision over the mass-market plastic techniques typical of the era.

Today, Fulgurex is positioned as a premier luxury brand, renowned for producing museum-quality, handcrafted miniatures in scales from N to 1. Characterized by a philosophy of extreme rarity, many models are released in limited series of fewer than 50 units, featuring intricate details like thousands of individual parts, functional mechanical components, and hand-painted finishes. By focusing on historical European prototypes and utilizing original factory blueprints, Fulgurex provides elite collectors with technical works of art that combine "Old-World" craftsmanship with modern digital performance, cementing its reputation as the "Mercedes" of the model railway industry.
