About
JC - Jaegerndorfer Collection
The Jaegerndorfer Collection, often abbreviated as JC, was founded in 2008 by Klaus Jägerndorfer in Pottenstein, Austria. The company carries a significant heritage in the industry, as Klaus is the grandson of Walter Bücherl, the founder of the legendary Liliput brand. Building on this deep-rooted expertise, the company initially focused on the Austrian market, aiming to provide high-fidelity models of Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) prototypes that met the increasingly sophisticated demands of modern collectors. Today, the brand is recognized as a premier specialist in Central European rail history, producing a diverse catalog of locomotives and rolling stock primarily in H0 (1:87) and N (1:160) scales.
A defining characteristic of the Jaegerndorfer Collection is its unique diversification into functional mountain infrastructure. Alongside its traditional railway models, the company has become the global leader in producing scale-accurate, motorized cable cars, gondolas, and ski lifts, often developed in partnership with industry giants like Doppelmayr. These systems are available in both H0 scale for integrated layouts and 1:32 scale for standalone displays, complemented by specialized winter maintenance accessories such as Pistenbully snowcats and snow cannons. This niche focus has allowed JC to bridge the gap between model railroading and the broader world of alpine miniature modeling.
Technically, Jaegerndorfer differentiates its products through a two-tier system, offering both "Basic" and "High-End" versions of many models. While the Basic line provides a high-quality entry point with digital interfaces, the High-End editions feature advanced electronics, including factory-installed sound, independent lighting controls, and power-conducting couplers that allow for synchronized lighting across entire train sets. Despite its growth into an international brand, the company maintains a boutique approach to engineering, with all design and development work still centered at its Austrian headquarters to ensure prototypical accuracy and mechanical reliability.
