Rocky Rail

Rocky Rail is a Belgian manufacturer based in the Tongeren region that has earned a reputation for its focus on modern European freight and highly detailed diesel locomotives. The brand is most famous for its definitive recreation of the MaK DE 6400 (NS 6400) diesel-electric locomotive in H0 scale, a staple of Dutch and German freight traffic. By specializing in specific modern prototypes that larger manufacturers often overlook, Rocky Rail has become a favorite for modelers focused on Era VI logistics, combining robust mechanical performance with a high degree of external fidelity.

Operating primarily in the H0 (1:87) scale, the company is particularly recognized for its "intermodal" expertise, offering an extensive range of container wagons, pocket wagons, and "twin cars" (AAE Cargo types). These models often feature high-quality die-cast metal chassis and etched-metal details to ensure a realistic weight and appearance on the track. Through strategic collaborations with other specialized brands like Igra Model, Rocky Rail continues to provide a vital link for enthusiasts of contemporary European rail transport, ensuring that the colorful and complex world of modern container traffic is represented with professional precision.
