Van Biervliet began its journey not as a manufacturer, but as a specialized model railway shop in Ingelmunster, Belgium. Driven by the high demand for authentic Belgian prototypes that larger European companies often overlooked, the family-run business made the ambitious leap into independent production. Today, the name represents a dual identity in the hobby: the "Van Biervliet" brand itself, which typically focuses on premium, highly specialized Belgian locomotives and multiple units, and its sister brand, B-Models, which serves a broader European market with a vast array of freight wagons and international rolling stock.

The brand's reputation is built on its status as the premier guardian of Belgian National Railway (NMBS/SNCB) history in miniature. They are particularly celebrated for their work in the H0 (1:87) scale, where they have released definitive versions of iconic Belgian "Classic" railcars like the AM 54 and modern fleet staples such as the Siemens Desiro (AM 08).
