About

Lematec

Lematec was established in 2003 in Switzerland as a specialist engineering firm, but its entry into the model railway world was defined by the 2006 acquisition of Lemaco, a legendary brand founded by Urs Egger. This transition ensured the continuation of a decades-long tradition of elite, handcrafted brass modeling that Egger had pioneered after his time at Fulgurex. Today, headquartered in Bex, Lematec is regarded as a premier boutique manufacturer, producing museum-quality miniatures across nearly every major scale, from N (1:160) to Gauge 1 (1:32), specializing in the complex steam and electric prototypes of Europe.

The brand's identity is synonymous with exclusivity, utilizing small, strictly numbered production runs where quality takes absolute precedence over delivery speed. Each model is a work of industrial art, meticulously assembled from hundreds of brass and stainless steel components and powered by high-performance Faulhaber motors. In 2010, the company introduced the Modelbex brand to offer more layout-friendly models at an accessible price point by blending brass and die-cast construction. Despite this expansion, Lematec remains firmly rooted in the "Prestige" market, serving collectors who demand uncompromising prototypical accuracy and the distinct mechanical finesse of a handcrafted Swiss timepiece.
