Class 19 was a unique, experimental electric locomotive operated by the Belgian national railway. It originated from the conversion of
Class 21 locomotive 2130 in 1993 to serve as a test bed for the development of the future
Class 13 locomotives.
Renumbered as 1901, it was the only member of this class. The locomotive was equipped with asynchronous traction motors and a transformer that enabled it to operate under both 25,000 volts AC (50 Hz) and 3,000 volts DC, making it suitable for international service, particularly in France. It was also fitted with French signaling and protection systems and frequently operated into Lille Flandres station during testing.
By 2001, after the successful completion of the tests, 1901 was restored to its original configuration as
Class 21 locomotive 2130.
