1976

As the delivery of the Fiat bogies for the Eurofima series of passenger coaches was initially delayed, the ÖBB - Austrian Federal Railways started procuring 2nd class coaches fitted with SGP VS-RIC 75 bogies and Swiss-type folding doors.

55x Bmz 21-70.0 coaches were delivered between 1976 and 1978.

1987

From 1987 to 1988, Bmz 21-70 000 to 017 and 033 coaches are upgraded to reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h and are registered as Bmz 21-90.0 .

12x Bmz 21-70.0 coaches are modernised in the ÖBB "Upgrading-Programm" but without beeing upgraded to reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

2004

Since 2004, the remaining 43x Bmz 21-70.0 units are modernised in the ÖBB "Upgrading-Programm" and are upgraded to reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Following the maximum speed upgrade, the modernised units are registered as Bmz 21-90.0 .  

2007

From 2007 to 2009, the 12x Bmz 21-70.0 coaches modernised in 2003 and 2004 are also upgraded to reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h and receive the new registration Bmz 21-90.0 .
