The model features a new design representing the operational condition around 1979/1980. It includes two SBS-10/54 type pantographs, extra windscreen wipers, and wheelsets with low flanges. It operates digitally with switchable driver's cab and engine room lighting. The Class E 44.1 locomotives, later known as Class E 44.5, were developed in 1938 from an initiative by the German locomotive industry. The 144 507 model, from the second series, had upgraded traction motors and a longer frame. Over time, modifications included replacing large signal lanterns with standard DB lanterns and upgrading pantographs. These locomotives served successfully for 50 years, notably on the mountain railway, and were even used for the IC 511 "Chiemgau". Three E 44.5 locomotives have been preserved as museum pieces.
