Train World Model Railway Exhibition 2026 | 20+ Layouts & Historic Belgian Trains

Welcome to the Train World Model Railway Exhibition 2026 in Brussels, Belgium 🇧🇪🚂✨ — a special event bringing together Belgian railway heritage in both miniature and full scale!

Held from 18 to 30 August 2026 at Train World in Schaerbeek, the exhibition was organised in collaboration with Media & Rail – Train Miniature Magazine as part of the celebrations marking 100 years of SNCB/NMBS. Dozens of layouts created by Belgian clubs and modellers were displayed throughout the museum, including detailed recreations of Hasselt, Ostend, Houyet, Sourbrodt, Edegem and the Royal Halt of Ardenne.

Discover more than 20 impressive model railway layouts, surrounded by the museum’s real historic locomotives and rolling stock — a unique opportunity to experience Belgian railway history simultaneously at full size and in miniature. During the closing weekend, the event also welcomed model railway exhibitors and commercial stands including Märklin, Roco/Fleischmann and L.S.Models.

And the railway experience continues just outside the museum! On 29 and 30 August, Schaerbeek railway station hosts a spectacular heritage train almost 300 metres long, assembled especially for SNCB/NMBS’s centenary. Made up of historic rolling stock from different eras — with some vehicles open to visitors — it provides a fascinating journey through the evolution of Belgian railways over the past century.

The setting itself makes this event particularly special. Train World is Belgium’s national railway museum, combining the historic Art Nouveau Schaerbeek station with a modern museum complex. Its permanent collection takes visitors from the earliest days of Belgian railways to modern high-speed trains, with historic locomotives, coaches and wagons, more than 60 projections and interactive exhibits. Highlights include the Pays de Waes, described by the museum as the oldest surviving steam locomotive in continental Europe, as well as a Trans Europ Express coach, postal wagon and Second World War Red Cross wagon.
