The class 232 of Deutsche Bahn originated from the DR class 132 of the 1970s, built in the Soviet locomotive factory in Luhansk. It was designed for non-electrified main lines of the GDR and was suitable for both heavy freight and express trains. With 3,000 hp, electric train heating, and robust technology, it was one of the most powerful diesel locomotives in Europe. Even after 1994, it continued to shape the railway landscape in East Germany as class 232 and remained a symbol of reliability and power.
