The E646 "Navetta" received a new beige paint scheme with orange and purple stripes, known as MDVC. This livery was originally introduced in 1981 on the corresponding coaches and initially featured an orange rectangle on the front, which was later replaced by green and purple "mustaches." In the late 1980s, the roof was changed from originally dark gray to silver to improve the heat dissipation of the rheostat. At the same time, the front windows were replaced with armored "Triplex" windows with striking aluminum frames, altering the visual appearance of the locomotive.
