Diesel locomotive CC 72071 "Marseille"
Original livery with number plates
The 200th anniversary of the French Revolution was celebrated in
1989 with a commemorative event in France, particularly honoring
the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, and the Declaration
of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen on August 26, 1789. As part
of these celebrations, the diesel locomotive CC 72030 received a
special decoration in the colors of the French flag, as well as the
event logo designed by Jean-Michel Folon. The locomotive was
repainted a total of four times: first in blue, then in
blue-white-red for the 200th anniversary, subsequently in a red
multi-service livery, and finally in a last livery. With over 9
million kilometers traveled, it was the French diesel locomotive
with the highest mileage and was decommissioned on October 23,
2018.
