2-part diesel multiple unit series 591.400 "Ferrobus" of RENFE
silver with UIC markings
After the success of the first Ferrobús, RENFE procured additional,
technically and operationally improved trains starting in 1966.
These now consisted of four-car trains with two driving cars at the
ends and two intermediate cars, which increased performance and
capacity. Additionally, improvements such as pneumatic doors were
introduced. A total of 34 trains were produced, numbered as FER/FRI
401–468, with each half-unit counted separately.
Starting in 1967, another series followed with a modified
configuration of two driving cars, totaling 27 trains (FER 469–522)
with a total power output of 600 hp.
