The RhB put the turret drive vehicle Xm 2/2 9916 into service in 1963 for the overhead line service on the Bernina line.
It is largely based on the vehicle development of the shunting tractors Tm 2/2 56-67 (later 15-26) and can also be used on the main network or the Arosa line. During its service period, its paint changed from oxide red to orange (1988-2002) to its current yellow color. The vehicle has been continuously modified, especially the roof structures have been improved.
In 2002, the turret drive vehicle was modernized and the work platform was optimized for safety at work.
