BEMO

BEMO Modellbahnen was founded in 1976 in Uhingen, Germany, with a clear mission to serve a specialized niche that larger manufacturers had largely overlooked: the world of narrow-gauge railways. The company made an immediate impact at the Nuremberg Toy Fair that same year with its debut models, the V51 and V52 diesel locomotives. These models brought the history of the Württemberg branch lines to life in both H0e (750mm) and H0m (meter gauge) scales, establishing BEMO as a technical pioneer in high-precision, small-scale narrow-gauge modeling. This early success laid the groundwork for a catalog that would eventually become the definitive collection for enthusiasts of alpine and regional branch line railways.

Over the following decades, BEMO became globally synonymous with the Swiss mountain railways, particularly the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), the Furka Oberalp, and the Glacier Express. By focusing on the 1:87 scale while utilizing 12mm and 9mm track gauges, the brand allowed modelers to recreate the dramatic, winding curves and steep gradients of the Swiss Alps with absolute prototypical fidelity. To cater to the most discerning collectors, BEMO introduced its "Metal Collection," a premium line of limited-edition locomotives and wagons crafted from high-quality metal components to achieve museum-quality finish and superior weight for traction. Today, BEMO remains a specialized powerhouse based in Uhingen, prized for its intricate printing, historically accurate liveries, and its unique ability to capture the atmospheric charm of European narrow-gauge networks.
