Saxony Passenger Car Type 711 - Design Innovation

Between 1907 and 1911, the K.Sächs.Sts.E.B. put a total of 66 bogie cars from the numbering groups 345 K – 346 K and 366 K – 429 K into service. These cars, known by the running number 711, had an overall length of 13,360 mm and a bogie wheelbase of 8,100 mm. The longitudinal frame members, reinforced by a truss, extended only over the length of the car body, while the transition devices were mounted separately.

The car body was made of a clad wooden construction and was equipped with a roof without the skylights that were common at the time. Originally, the cars were delivered with Heberlein brakes, but many were later converted to Körting brakes. As the first Saxon passenger cars, they featured toilets. Starting in the 1930s, the DRG began modernizing some cars with metal cladding.

Most of these cars were retired between 1967 and 1972. Eight cars underwent modernization in 1977. Today, car 970-318 in Schönheide and 970-343 in Freital-Hainsberg with metal cladding still exist. In Rittersgrün, 970-328 has been preserved.

The model is produced in scale length with both wooden and metal car bodies. In the first edition, Bemo exclusively realizes vehicles from the era III.
