In 2024, Kreka was one of the last operators of steam locomotives
in Bosnia. Five Class 52 locomotives from the former DRB were still
in service, transporting lignite from the mine to the Tuzla power
station, the region's largest coal-fired power station. The Kreka

lignite, making it one of the largest in Europe and worldwide. Its
annual production capacity is 2.95 million tonnes of coal.
